Conservative care and rehabilitation
Education, habit changes, bladder training, management of constipation and cough, fluid adjustment and pelvic-floor rehabilitation are common foundations. They are not “minor treatments”: when appropriately prescribed they may be first-line and require follow-up.
Medical and local treatments
Urgency symptoms have medication options for selected patients. Genitourinary symptoms of menopause can be treated with non-hormonal measures and prescribed local therapy according to medical history. Medication requires review of contraindications, interactions and goals.
Procedures and technology
Devices and procedures may have specific indications. Evidence, risks, alternatives, cost, recovery and maintenance should be discussed. “Minimally invasive” does not mean appropriate for every symptom.
Transparent information about gynecological laser →Surgery
Surgery may be an option in selected stress incontinence or prolapse cases. Diagnosis, benefits, risks, recovery and expectations must be reviewed. Isolated urgency is managed differently.
Shared decision-making
A useful recommendation explains what problem is being treated, what improvement is realistic, what uncertainty exists and what happens if treatment is deferred. The aim is informed choice, not pressure from a technology.
Indicative comparison of options
This table summarises common uses; it does not replace individual clinical recommendation.
| Option | Stress | Urgency | Dryness / GSM | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pelvic-floor rehabilitation | Common first option | May be part of care | Not a mucosal treatment | Requires assessment and follow-up |
| Bladder training | Not usually the main approach | Common | No | Structured habits and progression |
| Medical or local treatments | According to diagnosis | Selected medication options | Common according to history | Review contraindications |
| Gynaecological laser | Selected cases; limited evidence | Not a general treatment | Indication and evidence must be assessed | No universal success percentages |
| Surgery | May be indicated | Not for isolated urgency | No | Confirmed diagnosis and consent |
