First assessment

The first consultation does not start with a machine. It starts by understanding the problem.

Before suggesting treatment, symptoms, medical history, goals and signs that may change the diagnosis are put in order.

First assessment
01

Listen to the reason for consultation

When leakage or discomfort occurs, how long it has been present, frequency, impact and what worries you most.

02

Medical history and related factors

Births, surgery, menopause, medication, infections, constipation, cough, sport and other relevant information.

03

Examination only when it adds value

If a gynaecological or functional examination may be useful, it is explained beforehand and requires consent.

04

Tests according to the case

A bladder diary, urine test, ultrasound or other investigations may be considered; they are not automatic for everyone.

05

Plan and measurable goals

Options, benefits, limits and follow-up are explained, defining what improvement will be assessed.

What to bring

What to bring

A medication list, relevant reports, recent results and, if possible, a three-day bladder diary. You do not need to know how to explain everything “perfectly”.

What should not happen

What should not happen

A laser or surgical procedure should not be chosen solely because of an advertising claim or a web questionnaire.
